Michael Boujoulian, Managing Director (New England)
Michael Boujoulian is responsible for Alliance Residential Company’s development activity in the New England region. He manages all projects from deal sourcing and negotiation phases through programming, capitalization, design, construction, operations and disposition. During his career, Mr. Boujoulian has worked on the development of thousands of conventional rental units in Greater Boston, including many under Massachusetts affordable housing law Chapter 40B. Before joining Alliance, Mr. Boujoulian served as Senior Vice President for Cabot, Cabot & Forbes, where he successfully introduced multifamily development to a historically commercial development company, including direct oversight of more than 1,000 units of luxury product in Greater Boston. Prior to that, Mr. Boujoulian served as a Development Associate for JPI Development’s New England office, directly managing various stages of underwriting, permitting, design and construction. Michael graduated from Babson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, majoring in Real Estate studies.
David Lodwick, Regional CFO
As Chief Financial Officer of the Northeast region, David Lodwick is responsible for identifying and managing joint-venture equity and debt financing, and working closely with our regional development team. Mr. Lodwick joined Alliance in 2011 as Finance Manager, focusing on identifying, negotiating, and closing debt and equity financing in the western U.S. Prior to that, he served as Director of Asset Management for DMB Associates with responsibility for managing a variety of office and retail assets; Senior Director for Opus West, where he was directly involved in closing more than $3.1 billion of debt and almost $1.8 billion in property sales across more than 200 transactions; Vice President of BBVA Compass with management oversight of a $200 million commercial real-estate portfolio; and Real Estate Researcher for CB Richard Ellis in the Valuation & Advisory Services group, where he was responsible for preparing appraisals for a wide variety of property types. A graduate of Arizona State University, Mr. Lodwick is also a certified appraiser and maintains a real estate license in the state of Arizona. He holds membership or board positions with a variety of civic, social and business associations, including the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council (REIAC), Urban Land Institute (ULI), Men’s Arts Council of the Phoenix Art Museum and EC70/Executive Council Charities.
Brad Hamel, Senior Vice President of Operations (Northeast)
As Senior Vice President of Operations – East, Brad Hamel is responsible for the oversight and expansion of the company’s upstart portfolio in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Additionally, Mr. Hamel supervises operations for 5,000+ units in the Southeast region. He has more than 14 years of multifamily experience and began his career at Gables Residential in Atlanta. Prior to joining Alliance, Mr. Hamel directed business development activities for Riverstone Residential Group throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions. In this capacity, he contributed to the addition of 10,000+ units to Riverstone’s management portfolio. He has held multiple positions in the multifamily industry, including providing operational oversight for Riverstone’s portfolio in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. Mr. Hamel studied at The Pennsylvania State University and holds a real estate license in New York.
Elizabeth Karl, Regional Vice President of Operations (Northeast)
Elizabeth Karl is Regional Vice President of Operations in Alliance’s Northeast region with responsibility for operations in the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic portfolios. Prior to joining Alliance, she was Director of Asset Management for a Mid-Atlantic owner/operator, where she managed a 5,000-unit portfolio. Ms. Karl’s multifamily background encompasses major renovations, asset repositioning, lease-up execution, managing ancillary income programs, acquisitions and dispositions. She holds an MBA in Real Estate and Urban Development from The George Washington University and a BA from Bucknell University. Ms. Karl is a board member of the Real Estate and Finance Alliance at GW and also serves as a mentor for undergraduate students interested in real estate careers. She is an active member of Commercial Women in Real Estate – DC (CREW-DC) and was the recipient of the chapter’s 2015 Rising Star award.
John Sweeney, Director of Real Estate
As Director of Real Estate, John Sweeney is responsible for Alliance’s overall expansion efforts across the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. Working with existing and future clients, Mr. Sweeney identifies new management opportunities to grow Alliance’s third-party management platform. Prior to joining Alliance, Mr. Sweeney served in various asset and portfolio management roles within CBREs’ New England region. While working at CBRE, Mr. Sweeney collaborated on numerous real estate investment trusts, funds, and portfolios for a number of institutional clients. As a Northeast native, Mr. Sweeney leverages his extensive professional network to cultivate new and existing relationships to expand Alliance’s upstart Northeast portfolio. Mr. Sweeney is a graduate of The University of Rhode Island with a BA in Political Science. In addition, Mr. Sweeney holds his Certificate of Real Estate Finance from Boston University and is a licensed Massachusetts real estate salesperson.
