Cyrus Bahrami, Managing Director (South Texas)

Cyrus Bahrami oversees development, investment and construction operations for the Houston office. He brings more than 12 years of real estate investment, development and finance experience. Prior to joining Alliance, Mr. Bahrami served as Vice President of Investments and Development for M-M Properties, where he participated in the acquisition, development and asset management of multifamily and commercial-office properties in excess of $600MM. Mr. Bahrami also held previous positions with PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP and Equastone Real Estate Investment Advisors. Mr. Bahrami graduated summa cum laude from the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Master of Science in Finance. He is a licensed CPA in the state of Texas.

Stephen G. Sweet, Managing Director (South Texas)

Stephen Sweet is responsible for identifying and sourcing new development and acquisition opportunities throughout Houston and Austin, and coordinating their construction or rehabilitation. Mr. Sweet has been in the industry since 1980 and has focused solely on multifamily since 1989. Prior to that, he worked in office, hotel, for-sale housing and land development. He has held positions with Gables Residential Trust, Trammell Crow Residential, Price Waterhouse & Co., Zapata Corp., CRS Group and Intergroup Development. Mr. Sweet graduated from Vanderbilt University and received an MBA from Northwestern University. He is a Texas real estate broker and a member of the Houston Apartment Association, Texas Apartment Association and Urban Land Institute.

Brandon Easterling, Managing Director (Austin/San Antonio)

Brandon Easterling is responsible for Alliance’s development activities within the metro-Austin area. His duties include site selection, land-contract negotiations, entitlements, financing, assembly of consultant design teams, and ensuring the completion and lease-up of Alliance projects. Mr. Easterling previously worked for CB Richard Ellis, in partnership with one of Austin’s top multifamily brokers — during his tenure, he was involved in or responsible for brokering more than $75 million of product. In 2001, he joined his father at Easterling Development, primarily focusing on building Class A, garden-style apartment properties. In addition to developing for-rent projects with his father, Mr. Easterling formed a development company focusing on urban infill locations around central Austin. In late 2007, he decided to refocus his attention on student housing projects, and secured his first site in west campus adjacent to the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Easterling graduated in 1995 from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in finance.

David Lodwick, Regional CFO (Southwest/Mountain/South Texas)

As Chief Financial Officer of the Southwest, Mountain and South Texas regions, David Lodwick is responsible for identifying and managing joint-venture equity and debt financing, and working closely with our regional development team. Mr. Lodwick joined Alliance in 2011 as Finance Manager, focusing on identifying, negotiating, and closing debt and equity financing in the western U.S. Prior to that, he served as Director of Asset Management for DMB Associates with responsibility for managing a variety of office and retail assets; Senior Director for Opus West, where he was directly involved in closing more than $3.1 billion of debt and almost $1.8 billion in property sales across more than 200 transactions; Vice President of BBVA Compass with management oversight of a $200 million commercial real-estate portfolio; and Real Estate Researcher for CB Richard Ellis in the Valuation & Advisory Services group, where he was responsible for preparing appraisals for a wide variety of property types. A graduate of Arizona State University, Mr. Lodwick is also a certified appraiser and maintains a real estate license in the state of Arizona. He holds membership or board positions with a variety of civic, social and business associations, including the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council (REIAC), Urban Land Institute (ULI), Men’s Arts Council of the Phoenix Art Museum and EC70/Executive Council Charities.

Mike Chambers, Vice President of Construction (South Texas)

Mike Chambers oversees construction in Houston, San Antonio and Austin with responsibility of estimating, cost reports, contract administration and field operations. Mr. Chambers has more than 38 years of experience as a third-party fee builder and as a builder for developers/owners. He has built apartments in 10 states and developed condominiums, single-family homes, hotels and commercial buildings in the Houston area. Mr. Chambers has been involved in the acquisition of and capital improvements for many properties throughout multiple states. Within the past 10 years, he has overseen the construction of 25 properties at Alliance. Prior to Alliance, he was Vice President at Trammell Crow Residential for five years and was involved in the construction of 22 properties. Mr. Chambers graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS in Building Construction.

Melissa Herrera, Regional Vice President of Operations (South Texas)

As Regional Vice President, Melissa Herrera is responsible for sourcing new business opportunities and supervising operations throughout South Texas. Ms. Herrera’s comprehensive property management background includes more than 18 years of industry experience with lease-up developments, stabilization approaches, market analyses, budget preparations, overseeing due diligence efforts, and building lasting relationships between equity partners and ownership groups. Previously, she served as Senior Regional Manager for Alliance in the Central region where she was named “Regional Manager of the Year” in 2005, and earned the “Commitment to Excellence” award in 2008. Ms. Herrera graduated from Austin Peay State University and is a member of the Houston Apartment Association.

Clark McLaughlin, Executive Director of Business Development (East)

As Executive Director of Business Development – East, Clark McLaughlin is responsible for Alliance’s overall expansion efforts across the eastern United States. Working with existing and future clients, Mr. McLaughlin identifies new management opportunities to grow Alliance’s third-party management platform.

Prior to joining Alliance , Mr. McLaughlin was the Vice President of Summit Equities LLC, a private-equity real estate investment firm based in New York. While working at Summit, he oversaw the asset and property management divisions for the company’s portfolio, comprised of class A retail and multifamily communities. Mr. McLaughlin holds a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University – Commerce, and a Bachelor of Science degree in public relations from The University of Texas at Austin. In addition, Mr. McLaughlin holds a Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor designation through the National Apartment Association, and is currently obtaining his Certified Commercial Investment Member licensure from the CCIM Institute and his Certified Property Manager licensure from the Institute of Real Estate Management.
